Review structure suggestions
Structure suggestions propose concrete organizing work: a tag group for topics that belong together, a topic type, a variable for a repeated value, a condition dimension, or a split of an overloaded map. You review each one, edit it if the proposal is close but not exact, and accept or dismiss it. Nothing is applied until you accept it.
Find them in Analytics ▸ Content health, in the Structure suggestions section. Suggestions are grouped by type, with the most confident ones first.
What Topicary proposes
Group | What accepting it creates | Available on |
|---|---|---|
Tags | A taxonomy (tag group), its tags, and the topic assignments | Every plan |
Topic types | A topic type set on one topic | Every plan |
Map structure | One or more sub-maps holding the topics named in the proposal | Every plan |
Variables | One variable in the project's default variable set | Team and Business plans |
Conditions | A condition dimension and its values | Business plan |
During the beta every project is on the free Solo tier, so Variables and Conditions suggestions stay hidden until you request access. Go to Settings ▸ Billing to request a higher tier, or see Plans and limits.
You only see the groups your plan can act on. A suggestion your plan cannot accept produces no card at all, rather than a locked one, so the section never offers a change you cannot make.
Each card also carries a confidence badge:
Badge | What it means |
|---|---|
Strong | The evidence is explicit in your content |
Good | The grouping follows how your content is already organized |
Likely | The relationship between topics implies it |
Possible | The AI inferred it and it needs your judgment |
Accept a suggestion
Go to Analytics ▸ Content health and find the Structure suggestions section.
Read the preview line under the card title. It states exactly what accepting creates, for example "Creates taxonomy Feature area" followed by one chip per tag with the number of topics it covers. The preview is built from the proposal itself, not written by the AI.
Optional: select Details to read the evidence behind the suggestion, up to five items with the topic title and an excerpt.
Select the check icon (Accept).
The change is applied at once and the card moves into the Accepted list. If it cannot be applied, the card stays where it is and the reason appears at the top of the Structure suggestions section.
Edit a suggestion before accepting
Open Details to change the proposal before it is applied. Only the fields you touch are sent; everything you leave alone is applied as proposed.
Select Details on the card.
Rename what is being created: Taxonomy name for tags, Dimension name for conditions, or Key and Value for a variable.
Clear the checkbox next to any member you do not want. Every member is checked by default. Tag and sub-map rows also name the topics they cover, or fall back to a topic count when a topic has been deleted since the suggestion was generated; condition values carry no topics.
For a map split, edit the title of each sub-map you are keeping. A title typed against an unchecked sub-map is discarded.
Select the check icon (Accept).
The preview line updates as you edit, so it always shows what Accept will do. If your edits leave the proposal invalid, for example when you uncheck every member, Accept is unavailable and the reason appears in red under the preview.
Topic-type suggestions have nothing to edit. A type change is a single proposal: accept it or dismiss it. The card says so in place of the editing controls.
Dismiss a suggestion
Select the X icon (Dismiss). The card moves to the Dismissed list and no content changes.
Dismissing is permanent for that proposal. Later analysis runs check what you dismissed and never propose the same thing again. If you dismiss one by mistake, restore it from the Dismissed list.
Review what you accepted and dismissed
Below the pending suggestions are two collapsed lists, Accepted and Dismissed. They load the first time you expand either one, and each label gains a count once the history has loaded.
Each row shows the suggestion title, its type, its state (Accepted, Reverted, or Dismissed), and when it was resolved. Accepted rows carry a View link to where the new entities live: the Configure page on its Filters, Variables, or Tags tab, the Maps page, or the topic itself for a topic type.
History is not filtered by plan. If your project moves to a plan that no longer includes a feature, you can still see and revert what you accepted while you had it.
Revert an accepted suggestion
Expand the Accepted list.
Select Revert on the row.
Read the confirmation dialog. It names exactly what will be deleted.
Select Revert.
What a revert removes depends on the type:
Type | What reverting does |
|---|---|
Tags | Deletes the taxonomy and its tags, along with every topic assignment they carry |
Topic types | Restores the topic type the topic had before, or clears it if it had none |
Map structure | Deletes the sub-maps, including any topics you added to them since. The topics themselves are not deleted |
Variables | Deletes the variable. The variable set that holds it is kept, and content that references the variable stops resolving |
Conditions | Deletes the dimension and its values. Content conditions that reference them stop matching |
The row's state changes to Reverted and the Revert button disappears. A reverted suggestion does not return to the pending list.
Older accepted suggestions have no Revert button. Topicary can only undo what it recorded at the time of accepting, and it started keeping that record in September 2026. Rather than guess which entities an older suggestion created, it leaves them alone: deleting something you have since renamed or reused would destroy work nobody asked it to undo.
Restore a dismissed suggestion
Expand the Dismissed list.
Select Restore on the row.
The suggestion returns to the pending list, where you can accept or edit it. Restoring is the only way to recover a dismissed suggestion.
A restored suggestion is an invitation, not a pin: the next analysis run clears pending suggestions of that type, so act on it while it is there.
Run the analysis again
Select the refresh icon (Re-analyze) in the Structure suggestions section header. The analysis runs in the background and new suggestions appear when it finishes.
Analysis also runs on its own every Sunday at 04:00 UTC. To keep model costs down, the weekly run skips a project unless it has at least 5 topics and at least one topic updated in the last 7 days. A run you start yourself is never skipped, whatever the size of the project.
If the whole tab is empty, select Run analysis now. That starts a structure analysis and a content health scan together.
