Keyboard shortcuts

All shortcuts on this page use Mac modifier keys. On Windows and Linux, replace Cmd with Ctrl.

Toggle focus mode: dim every block except the one you are typing in, and keep the cursor line near the top of the view

Cmd+Shift+M

Toggle suggest mode (track changes)

Tab

Indent list item or move to the next table cell

Shift+Tab

Outdent list item or move to the previous table cell

Inside the editor, Cmd+K adds or edits a link. Everywhere else it opens search. The two do not conflict, because the editor only intercepts the key when it has focus.

Cmd+Shift+M works on the Team and Business plans, where Track changes and suggestions is available. On Free and Pro the key does nothing, and the toolbar shows no Suggest mode button. Cmd+Shift+F works on every plan, and the editor toolbar always carries its Focus mode button.

Inline AI shortcuts

These apply while an Inline AI editing suggestion is on screen.

Shortcut

Action

Cmd+Enter

Accept the suggestion. When you have decided on some blocks but not all, it keeps the current block and moves to the next undecided one.

Esc

Dismiss the suggestion. A suggestion is only a preview, so your text is left exactly as it was

Editor panel shortcuts

Shortcut

Action

Cmd+J

Cmd+\

Toggle the right panel

Cmd+.

Toggle both panels

These three work at window widths of 1024 pixels and above, where the side panels exist. They work wherever the cursor is, including in the topic body, the title field, and a panel's search box. They also work on non-Latin keyboard layouts, because the physical J, backslash, and period keys are matched as well as the characters they produce. A panel shortcut for a panel the current screen does not have does nothing.
