Create a review session

Review sessions let subject matter experts review and comment on your documentation without needing a Topicary account.

Before you begin

Create a session

  1. Open a map in the map editor.

  2. Scroll to the Reviews section.

  3. Click Create Review.

  4. Optionally add reviewers by name and email.

  5. Set an optional due date.

  6. Add an optional personal message — this appears in the email invitation.

  7. Click Create & Send Invites if you added reviewers, or Create Review Link for a shareable link.

The review link is token-based and doesn't require a Topicary account. Share it via Slack, email, or any channel — anyone with the link can review. This makes it easy to get feedback from subject matter experts, stakeholders, or external partners who aren't on your team.

  • If you added email addresses, reviewers receive an invitation email with the link.

  • Click Copy Link to share the URL manually via Slack, email, or any other channel.

  • The link grants read-only access to the map's content — no login required.

What reviewers can do

  • Read all topics in the map

  • Navigate between topics using the sidebar

  • Select text and leave inline comments anchored to specific passages

  • Reply to existing comments for threaded discussion

  • Approve or Request Changes on each topic individually

Session expiration

Review sessions expire after 30 days. Expired sessions show an "Expired" badge. The review link stops working, and the copy button hides.

To extend a review, create a new session.

Once a session expires, the review link becomes permanently inactive. If you need more review time, create a new session before the current one expires — existing comments will remain on the topics.
